The Institute Science and Faith of PUCPR and the Sector of Consecrated Life and Laity of PMBCS

03/10/2014: Brazil

In August, the Science and Faith Study Laboratory of PUCPR (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná - Curitiba) began its work in collaboration with the Sector of Consecrated Life and Laity of the Marist Province of Brasil Centro-Sul. Under the direction of Br André Lanfrey, of the province of l 'Hermitage, the study will continue for two years with the aim of furthering knowledge of the life and work of Br François Rivat,  successor of Father Marcellin as Superior General, in the context of French spirituality of the XIX century and its implications for Christian mysticism.

Applying an academic methodology, the laboratory holds weekly meetings, the reading of specific texts and debates on the subjects. It is hoped that at the end of the two years scientific articles and essays will be published as a result of the research. Moreover, in forming researchers and qualified disseminators of the Marist Spiritual Patrimony (MSP), the laboratory intends to contribute together with the Marist Institute towards the spread of Marist pedagogy and spirituality in the various parts of the province.

Those taking part are the professors of PUCPR, Adalgisa de Oliveira Gonçalves, doctor in human sciences, and Andreia Serrato, candidate for a doctorate in theology; Marist Brothers André Lanfrey, historian and researcher in MSP, Ivo Strovino, specialist in Marist Spiritual Patrimony, Antonio Estaún, master of education and specialist in Marist pedagogy and Lucas José Ramos Lopes, academic in social sciences of PUCPR. The representative of the Pastoral Sector is Professor Dyógenes Araújo, master of philosophy, and those for the Sector of Consecrated Life and Laity are Ernesto Sienna, candidate for the doctorate of theology and João Luis Fedel Gonçalves, master of biblical exegesis and co-coordinator of the laboratory. Professor Fabio Incerti represents the Institute Science and Faith of PUC and collaborates in the co-ordination of the Laboratory. The group can count on the services of Br Aloisio Kuhn for translation.
