Encounter with Friends of Champagnat in Matola

19/04/2007: Mozambique

Brothers Reuben, Samson, Bernard, Tererai, Osward accompanied by Brother Antonio Pisco, 72 years old, had gathered the Friends of Saint Marcecllin from Saint Gabriel Parish. The big question was: Who was Champagnat and which part of the world had he known as a teenager?

Our novices showed them slides photos from Marlhes, La Valla and LHermitage and later had a little in- put followed by time of questions.

It was a day of connecting the young ones to our Marist origins. They left the place having full knowledge of the man whom they call their friend. Brother Antonio Pisco had a chance too to share his own personal experience about Marist life with them. They feel they are among the privileged groups to have had some concrete connections with the life of the Founder.

We hope they will make good Champagnats among their friends in the neighbourhood.

Brother Simeon Banda, fms.
