Rev. Br. Augustine Ojukwu was born on 8th December, 1936 into the family of late Mr. Paul Ojukwu and Mrs. Mary Ojukwu of Oraukwu in Idemili North L.G.A, Anambra State. He had his primary school at St. Joseph School, Oraukwu in 1945.

In his quest to serve God and humanity, Br. Ojukwu joined theMarist Brothers Postulancy in July, 1961 and entered the Novitiate on 9th January, 1962 at Uturu, Abia State. He made his First Profession on 9th January, 1963 and his Final Profession on 2nd January, 1968 in Nigeria and Germany respectively.

He studied Printing Technology in Passau-Germany from 1964 to 1970. Also, he did a Higher Diploma in Printing Technology in Master School, Niederbayern Germany, 1984. Furthermore, he did a Diploma in Marist Spirituality in the Marist International Centre, Fribourg, Switzerland in 1983.

His apostolic services took him to Ihioma and Ogbaku where he served as Catechist from 1963 to 1964. He was later transferred to Assumpta Press, Owerri where he served as the Manager from 1963 to 1985. Br. Ojukwu also worked as the Manager at the Claverianum Press, Ibadan. He later went to Marist Brothers Juniorate, Uturu where he served as the Procurator from 1993 to 2009. In addition, he served as Catechist at Marist Brothers Juniorate, Uturu from 2009 to 2010.

Br. Ojukwu had no foes. A contact with him will reveal his humorous and fun-loving nature. He loved his Marist Brotherhood Vocation with all his heart. After he received a very good training in printing, he had all the opportunities opened to him for lucrative jobs in the country that needed such human resource at that time. But unlike a number of his colleagues who left, Br. Ojukwu stuck to his first resolution to serve God in Marist Brotherhood.

A well trained religious, simple and regular, he was helpful and forbearing to the Province of Nigeria. An administrator, he worked the ailing Assumpta Press, Owerri to flourish to a new start. He served diligently and revived the dying press.

Br. Ojukwu had been sick for a while. He deserves his rest after many years of hard work and diligence in the Lord’s vineyard. May the soul of Br. Ojukwu Rest in Perfect Peace.
